Trade fair to display best products of Vietnam, Laos

More than 120 businesses and units of Vietnam and Laos will showcase their best products at the Vietnam-Laos Trade Fair 2018 in the Lao capital city of Vientiane from June 28 to July 2.

Vientiane (VNA) –More than 120 businesses and units of Vietnam and Laos will showcase their bestproducts at the Vietnam-Laos Trade Fair 2018 in the Lao capital city ofVientiane from June 28 to July 2.

The information was released at a pressconference held by the countries’ ministries of industry and trade and theministries of denfence in Vientiane on June 25. 

The fair, themed “Cooperation, friendship anddevelopment”, will take place at the Lao International Trade Exhibition andConvention Centre (Lao-ITECC) in Vientiane. It will feature over 200 boothscovering a total area of 6,000 square metres.

Vietnamese firms are set to introduce theirhigh-quality and typical products such as textiles-garment, leather andfootwear, agro-forestry-aquatic products, handicrafts, processed food,electrical and electronic equipment, mechanical and chemical products,construction materials, fertilisers, and animal food.

Additionally, an exhibition area at the eventwill display photos on the two countries’ traditional friendship and economicactivities of the Vietnam People’s Army.

As part of the trade fair, participatingbusinesses will visit Luang Prabang province of Laos and Udon Thani province ofThailand to survey the local markets. 

Meanwhile, the Department of Trade Promotionunder the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Vientiane and Hanoiassociations of women entrepreneurs will hold a business-to-business meeting tohelp Vietnamese and Lao companies to boost trade, investment and businesspartnerships.

The organising board and enterprises will alsopresent aid to disadvantaged families and schools in Laos.

The Vietnam-Laos Trade Fair 2018, part ofVietnam’s national trade promotion programme, is an important economic,political and social activity aiming to strengthen the time-tested and specialsolidarity and friendship between the people and armies of the two nations.

It also looks to create a platform for enterprisesto increase trade, investment and business cooperation, thus helping Vietnamesefirms to promote exports to Laos and other ASEAN markets.-VNA

Fuel taxes cut to 0% from April 16

Accordingly, the environmental protection tax on petrol (excluding ethanol), diesel, kerosene, mazut, and aviation fuel has been cut to 0 VND per litre. These products are also exempt from VAT declaration and payment, while still eligible for input VAT credit.
