Training course on waterway transport safety for children

A training course to ensure children’s safety on waterway transport opened in the Mekong delta province of An Giang on Oct. 20.

During the three-day training course, 50 provincial police will bebriefed of the situation of the country’s waterway accidents over thepast years, river transport safety policies and regulations on wharvesand transport vehicles.

They will also make a fact-findingtour to river wharves in Long Xuyen city and discuss measures toprevent children drowning, particularly for those who have to go toschool by boat.

The course is being held by the UnitedNations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Ministry of Transport andCommunication and the An Giang Traffic Safety Committee./.

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.
