Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 22provinces of Thailand have been severely affected by flash floods triggered by tropicalStorm Noul, a senior government official has said.
In a statement, Director General of theDepartment of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Chayaphol Thitisak said theflash floods and excessive rainwater, caused by the tropical storm covering allregions of the country, have damaged infrastructures, farms, villages and otherproperty in 22 provinces over the last few days.
Some 1,400 households in 224 villages inthose provinces have suffered from damage due to the tropical storm, which hascaused the flash floods and flowing rainwater as well as high tides in the Gulfof Thailand and Andaman Sea, according to the official.
The storm weakened into a tropicaldepression when it reached Khon Kaen province./.
