Tuyen bags bronze at continental taekwondo championship

Da Nang (VNS/VNA) -- Truong Thi Kim Tuyen of Vietnam took bronze at the Asian Taekwondo Championship on May 17 in Da Nang city.

Tuyen, seeded No 4, lost 0-2 to reigning SEA Games champion Panip Wongpattanakit of Thailand in the semi-finals match of the women's 49kg category. No 1 seed Wongpattanakit later took the top podium.

Wongpattanakit also eliminated Tuyen in the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Games before she went on to take the Olympic title in 2021.

In the women's 62kg, Vietnamese Pham Ngoc Cham finished third after losing 0-2 to Feruza Sadikova of Uzbekistan in the semi-finals.

The last weight categories of the championship will be held on May 18./.
