For the first time in reality TV contest Vietnam's Next Top Model, judges have announced two winners, 18-year-old Nguyen Oanh (female) from northern Quang Ninh province and 22-year old Quang Hung (male) from the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai.

The show's executive producer Le Thi Quynh Trang said they had obtained permission from the original format holder to grant the title to two persons.

The surprise result was announced during a glitzy finale on the January 17 night in Ho Chi Minh City , which began with a catwalk performance of top five finalists displaying creations of Project Runway 2014 winner Ly Giam Tien.

The pressure of the final seemed to have got to Duy Anh of Hanoi. He stepped on the dress train of another contestant.

After the performance, Duy Anh, a 20-year-old student of the Hanoi Theatre and Cinema College, was eliminated along with two young women, Tieu Linh from northern Hai Duong province and Cao Ngan from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The two finalists Oanh and Hung continued with the photo-shoot challenge, which required them to join dancers on stage and pose alongside them.

In the metallic bodysuit outfits created by Project Runway 2013 winner Hoang Minh Ha, the models posed for photographer Samuel Hoang.

In the previous round, which tested acting skills for an advertisement clip and casting for the Vietnam International Fashion Week, Oanh was eliminated. However, she was saved by the judges in the last minutes, and grabbed the chance to go to Milan together with other rivals.

Responding to comments that judges favoured her more than other finalists, Oanh said she always listened to every comment of the jurors in preparing for each challenge.

"I have tried my best tirelessly," she said. "Although some people have not appreciated my utmost yet, I'm satisfied because I have not disappointed myself."

On her co-winner, Oanh said he had "brightened" the finale's stage, so "his winning was absolutely understandable".

Hung said he was not surprised that Oanh won, but had not foreseen the double victory.

Before joining the contest, he was an economics student and a model for some fashion publications.-VNA
