Hanoi (VNA) – Tropical typhoon Tembin with wind speed of 90km per hour, made landfall in Cateel in southern Philippines on December 22 morning.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the storm was spotted near Laak, Compostela Valley. It is moving west at 20 kph.
The agency also forecasted moderate-heavy rains will prevail over Visayas (in central Philippines) and Mindanao within 24 hours, warning residents in the area of possible flooding and landslides.
So far, the government disaster agency has not received any reports of casualty and damage. The storm is predicted to left the Philippines on December 22 night.
The same day, rescue teams in the Philippines saved 252 passengers and crewmembers of a ferry carrying 257 people after it was capsized in the waters East of Manila.
The vessel met the accident after only one hour leaving the port due to bad weather conditions. Meanwhile, at least five were confirmed dead.-VNA
