The United Nations’ Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Oct. 27 had a working session with Prime Minister Hun Sen in the framework of his three-day visiting to Cambodia (Oct. 26-28).
Addressing the working session, the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon praised the achievements that the Cambodian government and people have made in their process of country building and economic development.
He spoke highly of the Cambodian Royal Government’s efforts over the past two decades in maintaining peace and political securities within the two recent decades, improving the people’s living standards, reducing poverty as well as realising the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals.
On this occasion, the Secretary General visited the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the Tuol Sleng prison, a vivid proof of the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime.
He is scheduled to visit the Soviet-Cambodia Hospital on Oct. 28 before leaving Phnom Penh for Vietnam./.
