General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam delivered a policy speech at the University of Malaya, the oldest and most prestigious university of Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur on November 22 as part of his ongoing official visit to the Southeast Asian country.

The Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association (MVFA) and the University of Malaya (Universiti Malaya – UM) has organised an international conference on cultural exchange, economic cooperation, and friendship connection between Vietnam and Malaysia.

Since becoming a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on July 28, 1995, Vietnam has played an important role in the bloc’s development in all fields as well as in the maintenance of stability and peace in the region, including the East Sea, a Malaysian expert has said.

Vietnam has shown its dynamism in the leadership of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), said Associate Prof. Dr. Awang Azman Awang Pawi from the Kuala Lumpur-based University of Malaya.
