The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on February 13 that foreign tourist arrivals in the country hit a three-year record in 2018, mostly propelled by its hosting of the first summit between US President Donald Trump and leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un in June 2018.

Singapore (VNA) – The Singapore Tourism Board (STB)said on February 13 that foreign tourist arrivals in the country hit athree-year record in 2018, mostly propelled by its hosting of the first summitbetween US President Donald Trump and leader of the Democratic People’sRepublic of Korea Kim Jong-un in June 2018.

Statistics showed that up to 18.5 million people visitedSingapore last year, up 6.2 percent annually, predominantly from China, India,the Philippines, the US, UK, Germany and Vietnam.

China remained the largest source of tourist arrivals with over3.4 million people, marking a 6 percent increase year-on-year.

In the first nine months of 2018 alone, Singapore’s tourismrevenue neared 21 billion USD.

According to the STB, the summit also boosted Singapore’s image for its capability to host major international andbusiness events.-VNA
