US firms help digitalise data of Hue relic sites

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre is partnering with US Seagate and CyArk companies to digitalise data of two heritages of TuDuc Tomb and An Dinh Palace, Director of the centre Phan Thanh Hai said on January 9.

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre is partnering with USSeagate and CyArk companies to digitalise data of two heritages of Tu Duc Tomband An Dinh Palace, Director of the centre Phan Thanh Hai said on January 9.

Theproject, funded by Seagate through CyArk, aimed to enhance the application ofscience and technology in modern data storage, thus helping the management andpreservation of Hue relic sites in the 3D model and promote theUNESCO-recognised World Cultural Heritage sites of Hue to the world.

Itwas implemented from April to December last year.

Thecompany handed over to the centre both processed and unprocessed data,including 3D models of TuDuc tomb’s relic sites, the models of interior andexternal decorations with high resolution of An Dinh palace, along with Autocadand PDF drawings of works in the two sites, images of the sites taken from 141different points, and videos.

Byusing technology provided by Seagate, CyArk can store, protect and process datain a safe manner, while supporting all storage methods coming later.

InJune 2018, CyArk sent its experts to Vietnam to make air and land surveys aswell as monitoring in TuDuc tomb and An Dinh palace.

Theexperts also instructed and transferred technology to officials of the centre.

Thanksto the project, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre can use digitalised datain storing, researching and analyzing activities in a more professional manner,while making full use of technology to introduce the historical, cultural andarchitectural knowledge to students, tourists and those who are keen onexploring the sites.-VNA
