Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam’s top football leaguehas been ranked as the fifth most prestigious club competition in SoutheastAsia.

The V. League 1 came in 22nd overall in Asia, according to thelatest rankings of the Asian Football Confederation.

Thailand’s league stands 8th in Asia, the Philippines’ 12th,Singapore’s 16th and Malaysia’s ranks 17th.

The Chinese league tops the overall rankings.

Since 2015, V. League 1 teams Song Lam Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Quang Ninh and Hanoihave failed to get past the AFC Cup group stage, while other regional teamshave performed well in the AFC Champions League, two key competitions for tankingpoints.

In the last two years, Thai teams have entered the knockout stages of the AFCChampions League, while in the AFC Cup, representatives of Myanmar have reachedthe round of 16 four times and the Philippines have twice played in theround of 16.-VNA
