VASEP forecasts that pangasius export turnover could reach around 2.3 billion USD in 2026, supported by tightening global whitefish supplies and improving demand in several key markets.
Tra fish output in 2025 is estimated at around 1.67 million tonnes. To date, the sector has contributed approximately 2.1 billion USD to Vietnam’s total agro-forestry-fisheries export earnings.

Vietnam’s shrimp exports have surged to their highest level in three years, reaching more than 3.4 billion USD in the first nine months of 2025, a 22% year-on-year increase.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the strong growth was driven by recovering demand in China, the US, the EU and the CPTPP bloc, along with Vietnamese businesses’ flexible adaptation to changing product segments and markets.
Vietnam’s fisheries industry is optimistic about reaching its export target of 10 billion USD in 2025, buoyed by a 15.5% rise in export revenue over the first nine months of this year.
In September alone, the exports earned nearly 991 million USD, rising 7.5% compared to the same month last year.
In 2024, Vietnam boasted over 58 pangasius farms meeting ASC standards, producing more than 210,000 tonnes annually for export to 61 countries. These farms achieve superior efficiency, saving an average of 140 cubic meters of water per tonne of fish, maintaining productivity rates above 70%, and controlling diseases close to 90%
Export value to Thailand reached 33 million USD in the first six months, accounting for 10% of Vietnam’s total squid and octopus export revenue and making Thailand the country’s fourth-largest single export market.
Vietnam’s total seafood exports for 2025 are forecast at 9–9.2 billion USD, slightly below the 10 billion USD target, with shrimp at 3.6–3.8 billion USD, pangasius 1.8 billion USD, tuna 850–900 million USD, and other seafood products close to 3 billion USD.
Aquatic exports last month inched up just 4% from a year earlier to 876 million USD, a steep drop from May’s 20% surge, marking the weakest monthly gain in the first half.
In the previous review, only one company was excluded from anti-dumping duties.
