The lesson learnt from the Second World War is to act together with respect to the interest of all members in the world community, to fulfil the tasks facing humankind.
Russian ambassador to Vietnam, Kovtun Andrei Grigorievich, made this statement at a ceremony co-organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and Vietsovpetro joint venture at Cam Ranh city in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on May 9 to celebrate the 67th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War against fascism (May 9, 1945 – 2012).
Participants at the event recalled memories when the Red Army of the Soviet Union destroyed the fascists to protect the country and end the Second World War. During the resistance, the Soviet Union lost 27 million citizens.
Participants at the event also laid a wreath at the Cam Ranh Statue, a symbol of Vietnam-Russia traditional friendship, which has the names of more than 200 Vietnamese and Russian soldiers, citizens and experts who died for regional peace and stability.-VNA
