Russian ambassador to Vietnam, Kovtun Andrei Grigorievich, made thisstatement at a ceremony co-organised by the Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations and Vietsovpetro joint venture at Cam Ranh city in thecentral coastal province of Khanh Hoa on May 9 to celebrate the 67thanniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic Waragainst fascism (May 9, 1945 – 2012).
Participants atthe event recalled memories when the Red Army of the Soviet Uniondestroyed the fascists to protect the country and end the Second WorldWar. During the resistance, the Soviet Union lost 27 million citizens.
Participants at the event also laid a wreath at theCam Ranh Statue, a symbol of Vietnam-Russia traditional friendship,which has the names of more than 200 Vietnamese and Russian soldiers,citizens and experts who died for regional peace and stability.-VNA
