Hanoi (VNA) – A flight of Vietnam Airlines transporting COVID-19Abdala vaccine from Cuba to Vietnam safely landed at the Noi Bai InternationalAirport on September 26.

With a total length of more than 17,000 km, and 20.5 hours of flying, thisis the longest flight so far that Vietnam Airlines has operated to transport vaccines.

The vaccines on the flight, which usedwide-body aircraft Boeing 787-9, were kept in specialized equipment, andhanded over to the authorized agency immediately after landing.

Cuba's Abdala vaccine is considered one of the world's most effective COVID-19vaccines. Previously, the Ministry of Health had conditionally approved thisvaccine for emergency use in preventing and controlling the COVID-19 pandemicin the country.

As a national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines plays a key role in transporting COVID-19vaccines. Since early 2021, with its fleet and extensive network of routes, thefirm transported nearly 70 tonnes of COVID-19 vaccines free of charge toprovinces and cities nationwide, significantly contributing to the country’s vaccinationcampaign./.

Under the official dispatch, commune and ward-level authorities must closely monitor every non-compliant fishing vessel within their jurisdiction.
