The 6-strong Vietnamese team bagged three gold medals and three silversat the 54 th International Mathematical Olympiad that took place fromJuly 18-28 in Columbia.
The Ministry ofEducation and Training announced on July 27 that the three gold medalswent to gifted students from schools in Ho Chi Minh City and the centralprovince of Ha Tinh while three silvers were secured by their peersfrom Hanoi, the northern province of Vinh Phuc and the central provinceof Nghe An.
With the results, Vietnam ranks7 th among the 97 participating countries and territories – thecountry’s best performance since 2008.
Lastyear, the Vietnamese math team jumped to the top ten after falling tothe 31 st place – its lowest place in all International MathematicalOlympiads - in 2011.-VNA
