Vietnam-Cambodia friendship association turns 40th

Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang has expressed hope that the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA) will build on its achievements and further foster the friendly cooperation between the two nations.

Speaking at the VCFA’s fourthNational Congress and its 40th founding anniversary in Hanoi on January22, the Minister praised the VCFA for closely working with theCambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association (CVFA) over the past time.

He asked VCFA and its chapters across the country to offer moresupport to Cambodian students pursuing studies in Vietnam.

Over the course of its 40-year development, the VCFA has activelypromoted friendship exchanges between Vietnam and Cambodia, with diverseactivities popularising their countries and people to raise mutualunderstanding.

It also assigned medical staffto Phnom Penh and Cambodian district of Russey Keo to offer healthcheck-ups, medicine, and gifts to the locals.

Cambodian excellent students were granted with donations whileVietnamese volunteer veterans once fought in Cambodia’s battles receivedbank deposit books by businesses and philanthropists nationwide.

Deputy Secretary General of the Office of the Royal Government ofCambodia Vann Phal, who is also Vice President of the CVFA, spoke of hiswishes to cement the bilateral friendship and collaboration in thecoming time.

On the occasion, Minister Quangpresented the Labour Order, third class, and the Prime Minister’scertificate of merit to the VCFA.

CambodianAmbassador to Vietnam Hul Phany granted the Friendship Order, firstclass, to four outstanding members of the association.

At the end of the event, Vu Mao was re-elected as CVFA Presidentfor the 2015-2020 tenure who will lead a 138-member executive committee.

The same day, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang hosted a reception for Vann Phal in the capital.-VNA

NA endorses 10% preferential tax rate for all press agencies

To affirm the Party and State’s commitment to supporting the press, the NA Standing Committee has adopted the government’s proposal to apply a uniform preferential corporate tax rate of 10% to all types of press. This move aligns with the current tax incentives for print newspapers.

The visit also showed that Vietnam wants to further strengthen political trust between the two countries, identify orientations to bring the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia to new heights, strengthen the cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and major political parties in Russia.
