Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Digital TransformationDay (DX Day 2020), themed “National Digital Transformation: Sharing andConnectivity”, opened in Hanoi on December 14.

The event was co-hosted by the Vietnam Software and ITServices Association, the Ministry of Information and Communications’ Authorityof Information Technology Application, and the Hanoi Promotion Agency.

At the event, domestic and foreign speakers sharedexperience related to experience and difficulties in digital transformation inseveral nations.

On the occasion, top 10 Vietnamese information andcommunications technologies (ICT) were honoured and a special publication introducingthem debuted.

Their products not only assist domestic firms in digitaltransformation but also create an ecosystem to push forward the process in thecountry.

Politburo member Nguyen Thien Nhan said ICT sector nowcontributes to 14.3 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP),becoming a key economy of the nation.

To raise its productivity ten-fold, he highlighted a need todigitalise database, develop digital infrastructure, build high-tech parks, andespecially building a contingent of qualified human resources in the field.

According to the VINASA’s statistics, total revenue of top10 ICT companies surpassed 1.9 trillion VND (82.6 million USD) last year,accounting for over 76 percent of the sector’s total. Their software exportearnings topped 4.9 trillion VND, making up nearly 24 percent of the combined.

The special publication featuring top 10 Vietnamese ICTcompanies in English, Japanese and Vietnamese languages will be introduced to over2,000 domestic agencies and units, more than 10,000 partners from around 100economies worldwide, and trade promotion events in the US, Japan, Europe, theRepublic of Korea and Australia./.
