Vietnam eliminated from AFF U16 championship

Vietnam were knocked out of the qualifying round at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-16 Championship in Indonesia on August 6 after drawing with Myanmar 2-2 in the fifth match of Group A.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamwere knocked out of the qualifying round at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF)U-16 Championship in Indonesia on August 6 after drawing with Myanmar 2-2 inthe fifth match of Group A.

Meanwhile, Myanmar and Indonesiatopped the group and qualified for the next stage.

La Min Htwe scored the opener forMyanmar in the 12th minute, butDinh Thanh Trung equalised in the 27th minuteafter taking advantage of a goalkeeping error.

In the 60th minute,Yan Kyaw Soe got his name on the scoresheet to make the score 2-1 to Myanmar,leaving Vietnam needing two goals to earn a place in the next round.

Trung gave Vietnam hope in the72nd minute by making it 2-2, but the team was unable to go the extra mile.

In earlier games, Vietnam crushedthe Philippines 6-1, lost to hosts Indonesia 4-2, defeatedTimor Leste 4-0 and beat Cambodia 1-0.-VNA
