Hanoi (VNA) – Ensuring stable supply of electricity for businesses in major industrial parks is an important task for the power sector and particularly the National Power Transmission Corporation of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVNNPT) to attract more foreign investors in Vietnam.
Recently, Director General of Samsung Display Vietnam Kweon Yuong Chan sent thank-you letters to Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, EVNNPT, Power Transmission Company N01 and Northern Vietnam Power Projects Management Board for their efforts to ensure safety while providing electricity for businesses at Yen Phong industrial park in the northern province of Bac Ninh.
According to the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) 2017 announced by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 74 percent of enterprises said they were satisfied with the provision of electricity. The proportion in the previous year was 69 percent.
Vietnam has attracted a lot of foreign direct investment (FDI) in recent years, resulting in high demand for electricity at industrial parks. In the first quarter of 2018, the disbursement of FDI projects was estimated at 5.8 billion USD.
In the northern region, Bac Ninh with dozens of industrial parks has become the most attractive foreign investment destination. The Samsung Complex in the province includes two companies, namely Samsung Electronics Vietnam and Samsung Display Vietnam, located at Yen Phong industrial park and consuming the most electricity.
The electricity sector in the central region is also working to ensure power supply for major projects including the steel production project of Hoa Phat company at Dung Quat Economic Zone in Quang Ngai province and the installation of a 220kV power station at Nhon Trach industrial park in Vung Tau city.-VNA
