More than 20 Vietnamese enterprises are showcasing their products at the sixth India International Silk Fair, which opened in New Delhi on October 16.

New Delhi (VNA) – More than 20 Vietnamese enterprises areshowcasing their products at the sixth India International Silk Fair, whichopened in New Delhi on October 16.

The three-day event allows Vietnamese firmsin the garment and textile and interior decoration sectors to seek partners,expand markets and learn about new technology and techniques.

It gathers 120 leading Indian silk producersand 250 foreign businesses from across the world.

Along with showcasing silk and silk blendedgarments, fabrics, accessories and carpets, the fair is also expected to featurebusiness meetings, a fashion show and workshops.

The organising board expects to welcome about10,000 visitors during the event.

India is the second largest producer of silkafter China and is emerging as a leading exporter.

Statistics of the Vietnam Customs show thatin the first eight months of 2018, two-way trade between Vietnam and India inthe garment and textile, cotton, and fabric fields reached 799 million USD, up35 percent year-on-year. Of the total, Vietnam’s imports of Indian cotton werevalued at 343.8 million USD, up 46 percent year-on-year, and the country’sexports of garment and textile products and fabric hit 203 millin USD, up 20percent against the same period last year.-VNA

Industrial production posts strong growth in first two months

According to the National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Finance, the index of industrial production (IIP) in February was estimated to decrease 18.4% from the previous month but increase 1% year on year. Overall, in the January–February period, the IIP rose 10.4% compared with the same period last year.

Nghe An steps up reforms to attract FDI

Nearly 35,500 new businesses set up in first two months

The enterprises registered combined capital of about 313.7 trillion VND and more than 167,500 employees. Compared with the same period last year, the number of new businesses surged by 70.7%, while registered capital rose by 36.1% and registered labour increased by 19.1%.
