Also at the ceremony, forthe same purpose, the Vietnam Bank for Investment and Development(BIDV) donated 100 tonnes of rice, 60,000 textbooks, 60,000 pens, 40tonnes of salt and 5,000 sets of clothes to the Cambodian people.
All donations will be given to Cambodian people in Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Prey Veng, and Svay Rieng provinces.
Secretary General of the Cambodian Red Cross Pum Chanity thanked theVietnamese Government and people and BIDV for their assistance, sayingthat the relief aid is a clear symbol of the traditional friendshipbetween the two neighbouring countries.
Hundreds ofCambodian people in many provinces were killed in the country’s floodsthis month. According to the Cambodian National Committee on DisasterPrevention and Control, the floods – the worst in 10 years –submerged 15 provinces and cities in Cambodia, damaged 291,000 hectaresof rice and affected 215,662 families./.
