Vietnam helps Lao journalists improve skills

A training course on professional skills for journalists and reporters of centrally-run press agencies and localities of Laos opened in the capital city of Vientiane on April 2.

Vientiane (VNA) – A training course on professional skills for journalists and reporters of centrally-run press agencies and localities of Laos opened in the capital city of Vientiane on April 2. 

Co-organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, the opening ceremony saw the participation of Deputy Director of the MIC’s Press Department Nguyen Thai Phien, Director of the Lao Institute of Mass Media, Culture and Tourism Vilaythong Sisanonh, Vietnamese press lecturers and Lao journalists and reporters.

Themed “Skills of illustrating information via images for newswires”, the five-day course will offer 42 Lao journalists and reporters an insight into how to make photo and infographic news, helping readers fully understand contents in the fastest way.

Since 2012, the MIC’s Press Department has held 20 training courses with different topics for nearly 600 Lao reporters and editors.-VNA
