Vietnam helps Laos build broadcast relay station

The Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and Vietnam Television on January 3 started the construction of a broadcast relay station in Laos’ northern province of Udomsay.

The Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and Vietnam Television on January 3 started the construction of a broadcast relay station in Laos’ northern province of Udomsay.

The project will see the construction of a 125 m antenna capable of withstanding a magnitude 7 earthquake and wind speeds of 140 km/h, as well as a 133 sq. m warehouse to store equipment, staff accommodation and internal roads, among others.

Technical equipment will also be installed, including 20KW FM and TV transmitter systems.

Pin Parathana Phanthamalytthana, a senior official of the ministry, thanked Vietnam for assisting Laos in this project, which will better the Lao people’s access to quality radio and television programmes, thus improving their knowledge for the area’s development and the two countries’ relations.-VNA
