Vietnam hopes to host 18th ASIAD

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan received Honorary Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia Wei Jizhong in Hanoi on October 25.

Wei is on his Vietnam tour from October 23-26 to inspect the country’s infrastructure in considering the country’s nomination to host the 18 th Asian Games (ASIAD) in 2019.

During the meeting, Nhan thanked Wei for helping Vietnam in organising the Asian Indoor Games in 2009 and the incoming fourth Asian Beach Games in 2016.

He said besides economy, Vietnam always puts its focus on the development of popular and professional sport activities.

Over the past years, the country has significantly invested in the field and achieved successes in many sport events, he said, emphasising that Vietnam , with sufficient infrastructure and resources, is ready to host the 18 th ASIAD.

Wei said that through his activities in Vietnam , he found that the country is preparing well for the event.
He expressed his belief that the country’s nomination will be approved.-VNA
