Vietnam’s team entered the top four at the Asia Pacific regional final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge, which took place in Singapore from April 23-24.
The event saw nearly 20 other teams from 15 countries competing, with each team required to research and analyse one publicly traded stock, produce a report on their assigned stock with a buy, sell or hold recommendation.
The thesis on the Southern Rubber Industry JSC submitted by the Vietnamese team, which comprised students from Foreign Trade University, won applause from the judging panel. Other teams in the top four were New Zealand’s Auckland Technology University, Diliman University of the Philippines and India’s New Delhi Foreign Trade University, with the Philippines’ Diliman University in the first place and going on to the world finals.
This year, about 3,700 students from 825 universities worldwide participated in the regional events from March 2013 to April 2014.
This is the third time Vietnam has sent its students to the competition and the first time country’s team has made this far in the ranking.
The Philippines’ Diliman University won the first prize at the global final on April 25, also held in Singapore.-VNA
