Vietnam-Iran diplomatic tie anniversary celebrated in Tehran

Tehran (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Iran held a ceremony on May 20evening in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishmentof the two countries’ diplomatic ties (August 4, 1973).

Attending the event were Politburo member, Minister ofPublic Security of Vietnam Gen. To Lam; Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular,Parliamentary, and Iranian expatriates Affairs at the Iranian Ministry of ForeignAffairs Alireza Bigdeli; Deputy Minister of Justice Askar Jalailan, Chair ofthe Iran-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi; and Chair of the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association Kamal Sajjadi.

Vietnamese Ambassador Luong Quoc Huy affirmed that the friendshipand cooperation between Vietnam and Iran have been consolidated and developedover the past years, reflected through many official visits of their high-rankingleaders.

The two countries have great potential for cooperation in economics,trade, investment, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges, he said,adding that to date, the two countries have conducted nine meetings of theirInter-governmental Committee, and seven political consultations at the deputyministerial level.

He proposed the two sides step up trade and investmentpromotion activities, strengthen business connectivity, and push for the earlynegotiations and signing of a Preferential Trade Arrangement (PTA) between thetwo countries.

On the basis of a solid foundation of traditional friendship, Iran'sgrowing role and position in West Asia and that of Vietnam in Southeast Asia aswell as with great potential in bilateral economic cooperation, the ambassadorexpressed his belief that the bilateral relations will have new developmentachievements for the benefit of the two peoples.

Sharing the same view, Alireza Bigdelin confirmed that Asiaand Southeast Asia are one of the priorities of Iran's foreign policy, and onthat basis, the policy of the Iranian President E. Raisi's administration is toexpand relations with countries in the region, including Vietnam.

He also expressed his hope that with huge cooperation potential,bilateral relations in all fields will develop strongly in the coming time./.

In the third quarter of 2026, Hanoi recorded a strong breakthrough, with growth of 10.02%, exceeding the national rate of 9.95%. PM urges swift implementation of national target programme, ensuring people are not kept waiting

Under the guiding principle of “coordinated policies – unified action”, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stressed that people must be placed at the centre of the programme rather than treated merely as passive recipients of assistance. Memorial service held for 93 fallen soldiers in Tuyen Quang province

More than 4,000 officers and soldiers laid down their lives on the northern border, particularly at the Vi Xuyen–Ha Tuyen front in Tuyen Quang province. In the latest search and recovery operation, competent forces found 93 sets of remains of fallen soldiers in Thanh Thuy and Minh Tan communes and Binh Thuan ward, including 18 found individually and 75 in six mass graves.
