Hanoi (VNA) - A delegation from the committeeof religions for peace of Japan had a working session with representatives of theVietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) in Hanoi on December 3.
During the event, VAVA President Sen.Lieut. Gen Nguyen Van Rinh said between 1961 and 1971, US troops sprayed some80 million litres of herbicides which contain Agent Orange (AO) over southernVietnam. About 4.8 million Vietnamese people are exposed to AO/dioxin, of whomover 3 million are victims and hundreds of thousands of children are in thethird and fourth generations.
Apart from attention and help from the Vietnamese Party, State and sectors, theAO/dioxin victims receive assistance from organisations and individuals in andoutside the country, including those from Japan, Rinh said.
The Japanese guests affirmed to continue cooperating with the VAVA in caringand help AO/dioxin victims.-VNA
