Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Le Thanh Tung and President of the Mexican Senate Jose Gonzalez Morfin have agreed to consider the possibility of signing a framework agreement on comprehensive bilateral cooperation.
At a reception in Mexico on March 14, both host and guest affirmed that Vietnam and Mexico have a firm foundation for deepening their cooperative relations more effectively to match their countries’ potential and people’s aspirations.
The Vietnamese diplomat said Vietnam and Mexico can establish a joint committee or an intergovernmental committee so the two countries can assess and review the implementation of signed agreements and seek effective measures to beef up linkages in various fields and at bilateral and multilateral forums.
For his part, Morfin pledged to do his utmost to contribute to the development of Mexico-Vietnam cooperation.
The Senate President said his recent Vietnam visit was a success and very important to himself.
He said he witnessed with his own eyes Vietnam’s developments and saw many opportunities for the two countries to cooperate in various fields, especially economics, trade and culture.
Mexico and Vietnam are friends and have great potential to beef up friendship, cooperation and assist each other.
Morfin said the relationship between the Mexican Senate and the Vietnamese National Assembly will enjoy many conditions for further development.
He said he hoped to receive Vietnam’s support for Mexico to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).-VNA
