Vietnam peacekeeping force honoured

The level-two field hospital No.1 of the Vietnam People’s Army was honoured at a ceremony at Military Hospital 175 in Ho Chi Minh City on December 5, after it completed the peacekeeping mission at the UN mission in South Sudan.

HCM City (VNA) – The level-two field hospital No.1 of the Vietnam People’sArmy was honoured at a ceremony at Military Hospital 175 in Ho Chi Minh City onDecember 5, after it completed the peacekeeping mission at the UN mission inSouth Sudan.

Addressing theceremony, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh affirmed thatparticipation in UN peacekeeping activities is a breakthrough step forVietnam’s external policy, marking a change both qualitative and quantitativein multilateral cooperation in general and defence-security cooperation inparticular.

On behalf of theGovernment, Deputy PM Binh honoured the achievements made by the field hospitalNo.1 while performing duty at the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. Hesaid the hospital staff have united to overcome all difficulties and completeall duties, leaving good impression on international friends and people in thehost country.  

“Each staffmember of the hospital is an ambassador of peace of Vietnam, ..helping promotethe image of the peace-loving country and people of Vietnam,” he said.

Major GeneralHoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, reported thatduring more than 12 months in South Sudan, the hospital treated 2,022 patientsand transferred seven to upper hospitals. Officials of the UN peacekeepingmission highly valued the hospital’s professional skills, treatment quality andservice attitude.

The hospitalstaff also completed all training as required by the mission, and established goodrelations with other units in the mission and local authorities and people. Thehospital was honoured with the UN peacekeeping medal for its outstandingperformance.

At the ceremony,the Defence Ministry announced a decision of the President to award the FatherlandDefence Order to the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, the department’s directorMajor General Hoang Kim Phung and the level-two field hospital No.1.  

The MilitaryHospital 175 and Director of the level-two field hospital No.1 Bui Duc Thanhwere presented with certificates of merit of the Prime Minister./.

Coast Guard Region 3 intensifies patrols to combat IUU fishing

Vietnam Red Cross launches emergency aid for storm-hit provinces

The Vietnam Red Cross Society has decided to allocate over 3.3 billion VND (125,472 USD) in cash and goods to assist Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Quang Ngai provinces, with the funding from its H2025 relief account at Vietcombank and from the “Clean Water for Communities” project, sponsored by Procter & Gamble (P&G) through Americares.

Vietnamese, Chinese border guards coordinate to promote legal awareness among residents

During the four-day programme, thousands of leaflets were distributed, covering topics such as border management agreements and protocols, the agreement on regulations for management of the Vietnam–China land border, immigration and customs laws, border gate management, and measures to combat smuggling and trade fraud, as well as the importance of safeguarding national sovereignty and border security.

PM visits residents, armed forces in Thanh Hoa's border commune

Breeding cows presented to poor households along Vietnam–Cambodia border

Accordingly, leaders of the Border Guard High Command and Tay Ninh province of Vietnam, and Svay Teap district in Svay Rieng province of Cambodia presented 20 breeding cows, valued at 20 million VND (760 USD) each, to 20 households - 10 in Long Thuan commune (Tay Ninh) and 10 in Monorom commune of Svay Teap district.
