Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s national men’s football team has maintained its 100th spot in the latest International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) rankings released on December 20.
Though their ranking remained unchanged, Vietnam gained five more points over the previous month to earn a total of 1,229 points.
As Vietnam recorded no loss during the 2018 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup, they continue to hold the number one place in the Southeast Asian region, followed by the Philippines (globally ranked No.116) and Thailand (No.118).
Vietnam held the 99th position in June 2011 and the 84th place in September 1998.
Belgium tops the world rankings, while France, Brazil, Croatia, England, Portugal, Uruguay, Switzerland, Spain, and Denmark follow just behind.
Europe has the most teams in the word’s top 50 for this month with 31 teams, while there are five from Africa and three from Asia. –VNA
