A Vietnam-RoK information technology centre was officially put into operation in Hanoi on May 27.

This was a fruitful translation of cooperation commitments between the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Technology (MoIT) and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security of the Republic of Korea (RoK), a leading nation in e-government worldwide.

The centre will conduct research and provide consultations regarding IT and e-government technology while serving as a bridge boosting cooperation between the two countries’ IT organisations and businesses through investment, technical exchange and transfer.

At the same time, the centre will organise seminars, fact-finding trips and training courses.

Addressing the opening ceremony, MoIT Deputy Monister Nguyen Minh Hong underlined the significance of the centre, which he said was expected to greatly contribute to deploying Vietnam ’s key IT and e-government programmes and projects.

In August, 2009, Vietnam and the RoK inked a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in computerisation./.
