Vietnam start strongly at Asian Badminton Champs

Vietnamese mixed duo Le Ngoc Nguyen Nhung and Huynh Nguyen Khang advanced to play in the main round of the Yonex Sunrise Badminton Asia Championships.

The pair defeated Karuna Dinulsa and Chandrika de Silva of Sri Lanka21-12, 17-21, 21-16 on April 13 in the second qualifier in New Delhi ,India .

Later Nguyen Hoang Hai and Nguyen Thi Binh Tho beat Uddin Rais Md andAlina Sultana from Banglales 21-16, 21-5.

The duos will join two men’s doubles and two women’s doubles teams fromVietnam in the main round. Vietnam ’s key player Nguyen Tien Minhwho is seeded No. 4 at the tournament will play the unknown Shao WenShu from Chinese Taipei, who is ranked No 259, in the men’s singles.
Minh, who is ranked seventh in the world, expects to meet MalaysianMuhammad Hafiz Hashim, who Minh both beat and lost to in 2009, nextround.

If the Olympian makes it to the quarter-finals, he will likely tochallenge Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand , who he defeated 2-1 at theThailand Open last year.

HCM City-based Nguyen Hoang Nam and Nguyen Hoang Hai will play inthe men’s singles event. Nguyen Nhung is the only representative in thewomen’s singles event, after her teammates Tho and Phung Nguyen PhuongNhi lost in the qualifying rounds.

Similarly in the women’s tournament, four of the world’s top 10players will play at the event./.

Vietnamese film week opens in Greece

The relics will be open for public worship and veneration at Hanoi-based Quan Su Pagoda from 6 am to 9 pm from May 14-16. They will then be transferred to Tam Chuc Pagoda in the northern province of Ha Nam from May 17-21, before being returned to India.
