Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam is aiming for no new drug hotbeds and removing 10 percent of existing ones each year as a target of a drug prevention and control programme to 2020 freshly approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
The programme also aims to spread knowledge on drug prevention and control in all communes, towns, schools and industrial zones.
The country also hopes to uncover all illegal productions and destroying all hemp plant cultivation areas.
Under the programme, Vietnam also targets that every year, 80 percent of drug users will access consulting and treatment services and 90 percent of detoxification facilities meet quality requirements.
To achieve these goals, Vietnam will implement preventive measures to stop drugs entering the country.
It will also monitor legal drug-related activities closely so that pharmaceutical products containing psychotropic substances will not be misused.
People involved in hemp planting and drug production will be punished strictly.-VNA
