Vietnamese martial artists took the lead at the 3rd World Vovinam Championship, which concluded in Paris, France on July 7.
It is the third consecutive time that Vietnam has ranked first at the event. The country earned a total of 18 gold and two bronze medals.
The host France finished second with nine gold, seven silver, and seven bronze medals, followed by Algeria with six gold, five silver, and six bronze medals.
Jointly organised by the World Vovinam Federation and French Karate Federation, the two-day event attracted 232 competitors from 24 countries nationwide. Artists from Japan and Bangladesh attended the competition for the first time.
The next championship will be held in Algeria in 2015.-VNA
