The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) officially handed over the right to host the 2014 ASEAN Under-19 Football Championships to Vietnam at its council meeting on March 4.
The tournament, slated for September, will gather four teams from Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia and Vietnam, which have outplayed others to enter the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-19 Championships’ final round.
Football teams from Japan and Australia are also invited to take part in the event to increase the event’s competitiveness.
At last year’s tournament, Vietnam won the silver medal after being defeated by host Indonesia 7-6 in a penalty shootout.-VNA
