It is the firstcompetition for international Grandmasters hosted by Vietnam, organised by theVietnam Sports Administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourismand The Grand Ho Tram.
The event is expectedto draw 22 Vietnamese Grandmasters, eight of them female, who have an Elorating of between 2200 and 2400 awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE.
Each male contestantwill play seven matches while their female counterparts will compete in a roundrobin format.
The winner of men’scontest will walk home with a prize of 200 million VND (8,640 USD) while thefemale champion receives a prize worth 100 million VND./.
