Vietnam to host World Masters for first time

Golfers from clubs worldwide will compete in the Accor Vietnam World Masters Golf Championship, being held in Da Nang, Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue from September 6 to 12.
Golfers from clubs worldwide will compete in the Accor Vietnam WorldMasters Golf Championship, being held in Da Nang, Quang Nam and ThuaThien-Hue from September 6 to 12.

The championship's organising committee said the tournament was open to players aged 35 and over.

Morethan 200 players from 20 countries and territories will compete in ageand handicap divisions with four rounds of the 72-hole Stableford at DaNang Golf Club in Da Nang city, Montgomerie Links in Quang Nam provinceand the Laguna Lang Co golf course in the central Thua Thien-Hue.

Theshotgun first round will start on September 7 and the final and theaward ceremony will be held on September 11, with a total prize money of10,000 USD.

The championship, which has been held in Australia,New Zealand and Thailand over 20 years, will be hosted for the firsttime in Vietnam.

Accor's Chief Operating Officer and golfenthusiast Patrick Basset said it was an honour to take part in such amajor golf event.

"We are excited to break new ground in oursports involvement in Vietnam, with the launch of the Accor VietnamWorld Masters Golf Championship 2015.

"This tournament willwelcome hundreds of golfers and onlookers, for playing at Da Nang'sworld-class golf courses, while pampering themselves in ourbest-in-class hotels.

"The ultimate objective of this tournamentis to introduce Da Nang as a premium golf destination and to bringattention to the accommodation, facilities and golf itineraries that aresecond to none in this region."

The all-inclusive tournamentpackage boasts accommodation for six nights, four rounds with caddiesand carts, nightly social events with food, beverages and entertainment,as well as welcome and presentation dinners and player packs withtournament shirts, personalised caddie bibs and country flags.

Therewill also be attractive events and day-tour options for non-players inHoi An, My Son and in destinations in Da Nang and Quang Nam province.-VNA
