The Vietnam Tra Fish Association (VTFA) has been set up with the aim to boost the development of the tra fish breeding industry.
A congress to launch the VTFA was held in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on March 2.
The congress elected the association’s 47-member executive board with Nguyen Viet Thang, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, being its chairman for the 2013-2015 term.
The VTFA sets targets of earning 1.8-2.25 million USD from exporting 800,000 tonnes of tra fish and building a Vietnamese tra fish trademark in the global market by 2015.
It also aims to harvest 1.2-1.5 million tonnes of tra fish and create 230,000 jobs by that time.-VNA
