Vietnam trounce Palestine at AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup qualifications

Vietnam defeated Palestine 5-0 at their April 22 match in Hanoi as part of the ongoing 2024 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup qualifications.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam defeated Palestine 5-0 at their April 22 match in Hanoi as part of the ongoing 2024 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup qualifications.

After the opening whistle, young Vietnamese players completely overwhelmed their opponents and opened the score in the 10th minute. The scorer was Thuy Nga.

Following many attempts, the second and third goals were made by Quynh Anh at minute 35 and Thu Trang at the end of the first half, respectively.

In the 53rd minute, the score was raised to 4-0 for Vietnam with a header from Thao Nguyen. Quynh Anh helped the squad gain the fifth goal before the match ended.

The victory earned the Vietnamese team the first three points. They will face Uzbekistan on April 26.

Despite the result, coach Akira Ijiri was not quite pleased with the Vietnamese players’ performances. He said there will be many tactical adjustments before the next match.

The qualifications consist of two rounds, with the first scheduled for April 22 - 30 and the second from September 16 to 24. 

In the first round, Vietnam is in Group C alongside Bahrain, Palestine, and Uzbekistan. All matches of the group will be held at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi on April 22, April 24, and April 26./.
