Vietnam, UK vow efforts to foster bilateral trade

The Vietnam-UK Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) has held the 10th meeting in Manchester, where the two sides affirmed their commitment to efforts to promote bilateral trade.
London (VNA) – The Vietnam-UKJoint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) has held the 10th meeting inManchester, where the two sides affirmed their commitment to efforts to promotebilateral trade.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang QuocVuong, head of the Vietnamese sub-committee, and Minister of State for TradePolicy Greg Hands, head of the UK sub-committee, co-chaired the meeting on June11.

At the event, the two sides discussedcooperation in education – training, culture – tourism, agriculture, finance,renewable energy, intellectual property, market control and counterfeitprevention.

They affirmed the commitment to making effortsto bolster bilateral trade as expected in the joint statement on the Vietnam-UKstrategic partnership, signed in 2010.

As part of the meeting, the Vietnam-UK BusinessForum was held by the UK Department for International Trade, the administrationof Manchester city, the UK-ASEAN Business Council and the Vietnamese side. Itattracted representatives of more than 100 UK enterprises who showed theirinterest in renewable energy and education cooperation with the Southeast Asiannation.

During their working visit, the Vietnamesedelegation also attended the international business festival in Liverpool onJune 13 and had a meeting with Vietnamese and UK firms in London on June 14. 

JETCO is one of the effective dialogue channelshelping to tackle barriers to bilateral trade and creating a more optimalbusiness climate for the two countries’ businesses.-VNA
