Vietnamese women’s futsal (indoor football) club Thai Son Nam took first place at the Southeast Asian international futsal clubs championship, which wrapped up on January 18 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Thai Son Nam squandered a 2-0 lead, allowing the host nation’s club, UNJ Jakarta, to come back for a 2-2 draw with late goals in their last match at the tournament, played in the round-robin format.
With previous 4-2 wins over Indonesian club UPI Dandung, and Felda of Malaysia, Thai Son Nam’s seven points came in ahead of UNJ Jakarta with five points, followed by UPI Bandung in third place with four points.
In the men’s division, Vietnamese team Hai Phuong Nam finished in third place after earning only two points in their three matches.
They drew 2-2 with defending champions IPC FC of Indonesia in the opener, lost 4-6 to Felda of Malaysia in the second match and tied 3-3 with another Indonesian club, Libido FC, in the last game.-VNA
