During the three-day international conference at Sofia University, researchers took part in 16 panel discussions that covered key topics on Vietnam, including language, culture, history, archaeology, literature, arts, anthropology, Vietnam–Bulgaria relations, heritage management, tourism, religion, political science, the digital economy and green transition.
Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev affirmed that Bulgaria always considers Vietnam a leading important partner in the Asia-Pacific region. With the foundation of traditional friendship and recent positive developments, the minister assessed that Vietnam and Bulgaria have all the necessary conditions to upgrade their relationship, in line with the long-term vision and political will of their high-ranking leaders.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet suggested establishing a defence policy dialogue mechanism and promoting academic and experience exchanges between military training institutions of the two countries.
Zapryanov affirmed that Bulgaria considers Vietnam an important partner and a bridge for Bulgaria to enhance its engagement with member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He highly appreciated President Rumen Radev’s visit to Vietnam in November 2024, calling it a significant milestone and a strong impetus for deepening the bilateral relations.
Bulgaria holds strengths in sectors that align well with Vietnam’s development focus, including information technology, software, electronics, energy and the environment, startups and innovation, agriculture and food processing, logistics, and freight services.
Bulgarian President Rumen Radev affirmed Vietnam’s standing as a traditional friend and highly important partner of his country.
