Warsaw (VNA) – The Vietnamese Association in Poland has celebrated its 25th anniversary and held its seventh congress in Warsaw to elect a new leadership, marking significant progress of the Vietnamese community in the European nation.

The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai, representatives of relevant Vietnamese agencies, and over 200 delegates from across the country.

The participants shared the view that the 25-year journey demonstrates the unity and efforts of the association that has played a key role in gathering Vietnamese in Poland and promoting cultural identity there.

Ambassador Hai praised the association's contributions to protecting the rights and interests of the Vietnamese community, enhancing cultural exchange, and strengthening ties between the two countries.

The diplomat also expressed his hope that the association will continue to lead the community and advocate for the recognition of the Vietnamese community as an ethnic minority group in Poland.

Over the past 25 years, the association has organised numerous community programmes, helping Vietnamese in Poland, including second and third generations, maintain ties with their homeland and integrate into the host society.

On this occasion, over 20 individuals and collectives were commended for their outstanding contributions to the association.

The congress also elected a new leadership, with Tran Anh Tuan re-elected as president for the 2024-2029 term./.
