
Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnameseblockbusters will be shown for free for a month at CGV cinemas nationwide.
The Free Movie programme began onOctober 10 and will run until November 9 at 15 cinemas in 10 cities andprovinces, namely Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Vung Tau, Hau Giang, RachGia, Can Tho, Tra Vinh, Yen Bai and Ha Tinh.
Thefilms to be presented include the romanticcomedy Em La Ba Noi Cua Anh (SweetTwenty) (December 2015), which earned 26 billion VND (more than 1 million USD)at box offices nationwide after just a week in theatres.
The film was directed by Phan Gia NhatLinh based on the original movie Miss Granny of the Republicof Korea, which performed so well across Asia that companies in China, Japan,Thailand and Indonesia bought the rights to the script.
The movie is about a 70-year-old womanwho finds herself in the body of her 20-year-old self.
The horror - romancefilm Co Hau Gai (The Housemaid) (September 2016) is about the life of a younghousemaid, played by Nhung Kate, who keeps a secret about the death of a rubberplantation owner living in South Vietnam during the French colonial period. Thefilm by Vietnamese-American director Derek Nguyen was screened at the first International Film Festival& Awards Macao 2016.
Last but not least, action-comedyfilm Ve Si Sai Gon (Sai Gon Bodyguards) (December 2016) byJapanese director Ken Ochiai is also being screened. The film features a pairof mismatched bodyguards who become partners to protect a young heir of abillionaire. Vietnamese-American Michael Thai wrote the screenplay for the90-minute film, which stars Thai Hoa and Kim Ly.
Apart from the three Vietnamese films,CGV (under CJ Group) will also present a Korean drama My AnnoyingBrother (November 24 2016), starring Cho Jung-seok, DohKyung-soo and Park Shin-hye. The moving story of brotherhood topped the Republic of Korea’s box office and hit more than one million views within four daysof its release.
