RoK prosecutors on September 17 requested that the Busan court impose a life sentence on man who fatally stabbed his Vietnamese bride in July, according to Yonhap News Agency.
The 47-year-old man, known as Jang, from the southern port city of Busan , is charged with murdering his 20-year-old wife just eight days after she arrived in the country to live with him.
The couple had married in Vietnam in January after meeting through an international matchmaking agency, which failed to check the groom's past record of mental illness.
According to Yonhap, prosecutors also cited the possibility of further crimes, as Jang has been treated for mental illness many times.
The news agency said Jang entered a guilty plea and judges will make a verdict in the next trial./.
