Vietnam's top chess player Le Quang Liem tied with SP Sethuraman of India in the final round of the Aeroflot Open on Feb. 15, and didn't defend his title at this event.
Liem, who has an ELO rating of 2714, had a good start at the tournament but began losing matches in the fifth round, when he lost to Russia's Alexander Khalifman. The 21-year-old then found it difficult to move further up the rankings.
With two wins, four draws and three losses, the two-time Aeroflot Open champion ranked at 56th place. This year's title went to International Grandmaster Mateusz Bartel of Poland (with an Elo ranking of 2658) after drawing in his final round game with Russian Anton Korobov. Bartel had four wins and five draws./.
