Some distinctive features of Vietnamese culture have been revealed to the Russian public living in the province of Vladimir.
At a May 12 ceremony to begin Vietnamese Culture Day in the province’s city of the same name, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Xuan Son said he hopes the event will allow people to discover more about the country’s land and culture, while boosting cooperation between the citizens of the two nations.
In response, Aleksey Konushev, a Deputy Governor of Vladimir province, expressed his belief that bilateral relations will continue to flourish, benefiting both Russia and Vietnam.
The Culture Day began with a unicorn dance performance and a parade showing off Vietnam’s traditional ao dai long dress in front of Vladimir city’s central theatre. Joining the event, local visitors had a chance to enjoy Vietnam’s folk songs and dances. They also got to witness famous songs from the Soviet Union era being revitalised through the voice of Vietnamese artists.
On this occasion, Vietnamese people collected hundreds of signatures for an open letter expressing support for the country’s peaceful measures to solve East Sea disputes, after China illegally positioned an oil rig in Vietnam’s continental shelf and exclusive economic zone.
The letter also called on China to respect international law and Vietnam’s maritime territory.-VNA
