Thefashion week, which carries the theme Silk – Asian Heritage, has beenorganised by Sustaining Thai Art Culture Internationally, and isexpected to attract the participation of designers from 15 countries.
Chungwill show two collections of 30 items each, which he has called Co BaXu Viet (Ms Ba from Vietnam) and Nguoi Luc Tinh (Southerners). He saysthe designs were a reflection of the daily clothes worn by women insouth of Vietnam.
His earlier collection Co Ba Xu Viet,consisting of 15 outfits made from silk, was voted among the top five ofthe world's 30 leading designers at the Silk Festival in Shanghai,China, in 2007. The show was broadcast live on Fashion TV and CNNchannels.
For Nguoi Luc Tinh, Chung has used a range of materialssuch as velvet, lace and silk, which he has blended with accessoriesthat include strings of wooden beads, silk scarves and dried flowers.
Chungwas the first Vietnamese designer to win a UNESCO award for helpingpreserve Lanh My A, silk fabric produced in south Vietnam./.
