Singapore (VNA) – Four designers and eight models represented Vietnam at the ASEAN International Fashion Week held at ArtScience Museum in Singapore from June 7-9.

The event gathered over 50 designers from member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Australia, the US, Italy, and the Netherlands, along with more than 40 models of the ASEAN states.

The week delivered a message of illuminating close relationships not only among the ASEAN member countries but also between the bloc and those outside the region through fashion. It also aimed to promote outstanding creations from fashion designers and connect ASEAN and the world in the field, helping to develop a prosperous and cohesive fashion industry.

Founder of the event Hayden Ng said the week was to encourage promising fashion designers in Asia, along with models and creators, to join the international stage, and connect the ASEAN fashion community to advance onto the global arena.

The common goal was to strive for sustainability and work together to build a peaceful world, he added.

This was the first-ever ASEAN International Fashion Week. Organisers said it may be held annually in the future./.
