Vietnamese disabled athletes set out to London

A send-off ceremony for Vietnamese disabled athletes who will compete in Paralympic Games London 2012 took place in Ho Chi Minh City on July 18.

The ceremony was held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, General Department of Sports and Physical Training, and Vietnam Paralympic Association.

The Vietnamese team has 20 members, including four coaches and 11 athletes who will compete in swimming, track-and-field and weightlifting.

They are to attend a three-week training course in Ireland from July 19 before heading to London .

Vietnam has attended Paralympic three times, but this is the first time Vietnamese athletes have had an opportunity to train in Europe , said Vice Chairman of Vietnam Paralympic Association Vu The Phiet.-VNA
